Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Ancillary Imaging RN will provide quality nursing care and patient/family education for the outpatient population, of all ages, undergoing physician ordered diagnostic and interventional pain medicine.  Utilizing the nursing process, will initiate and maintain positive working relationships with staff, physicians, and inter-facility departments to provide optimal patient outcomes within the framework of professional nursing practice. Will demonstrate the knowledge base and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and condition of the patients served. Must be able to perform a comprehensive, age appropriate assessment, develop and implement an individualized plan of care, identify and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, and serve as a direct patient advocate. Carries out other duties as assigned. Must exercise safe clinical judgments according to the standards of nursing practice and Nurse Practice Act.  These functions are carried out according to Wise Health System policy, mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  Operationally, reports to the Imaging Nursing Services Coordinator and/or Director and administratively to the Administrative Director, Ancillary Services.

 Requirements 
REQUIREMENTS:     1) Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Texas    2) 1 year clinical experience preferred, previous pain management experience preferred.     3) BLS and ACLS certifications.     4) Must meet WHS qualification for administration and monitoring moderate sedation.
 
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, moderate sedation) required for the job).
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must able to, with adequate help, transport and transfer all patients within the Monticello facilities as necessary.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:  Travel to out-lying imaging centers affiliated with WHS for sedation or other nursing support will be necessary.
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE: There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job.  Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
EMPLOYEE STATUS:  Non-exempt Hourly
