Registered Nurse Med/Surg STRHS


Full time, night positions available. Sign-on bonus available with 1+ years Critical Care or comparable experience. Current Registered Nursing License in Tennessee is required.

Job Summary: Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: Director of Intensive Care.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Certifications: Basic life support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Licenses: Current and active Registered Nurse license in state of Tennessee is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient and family.
  • Assists patients with performing duties of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to perform duties of the CNA, MA, or LPN or other nursing staff on occasion.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned.
  • Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of STRHS-Lawrenceburg.
  • Works scheduled shifts including overtime, when necessary.
  • Accepts all call schedule as directed.
  • Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code.

Functional Demands

All populations are served, and protected health information is accessed. While performing this job, occupational bloodborne pathogens exposure is present for all employees.
