Under the direction of the Director, Peri-anesthesia Nursing, you will serve a dual role of providing enterprise leadership in workflow optimization for clinical resources and, in conjunction with the managers of PEPC, provide nursing oversight to the clinical staff. You will be responsible for the clinical oversight, management and coaching of nursing staff at PEPC-Santa Monica to ensure that patients are clinically and medically optimized and ready for surgery or procedure. This role also provides broad based enterprise support for workflow optimization for staff and patient experience from the time of scheduling through the surgical event. Additionally, In support of the Surgical Home initiative, identify opportunities and implement solutions that leverage synergies and optimize care along the patient’s entire perioperative journey (including the Scheduling, Pre-Operative Evaluation and Billing processes). QualificationsWe’re seeking a strong nursing leader with a current California RN license and: · MSN or BSN with a Master’s degree in a related field · 3 or more years of perioperative experience as an RN including knowledge of anesthesia and all OR RN roles · 2-5 years of progressive management experience · Nursing leadership certification (e.g., ANCC or AONL) preferred · Skill in executing and coordinating additions to the surgery schedule. · Proven expertise in clinical, staff and fiscal management · Strong communication, organizational, prioritizing and teaching skills · Ability to foster positive working relationships with staff, patients and families · In collaboration with the Medical Director, establish clinical protocols that enhance pre-operative evaluation and medical screening of patients having anesthesia for a surgery or procedure · Ability to develop solutions that defines where the process for case scheduling & PEPC intersect to maximize OR utilization, surgeon satisfaction, and patient experience UCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
